Dr. Kathryn Smith
Calm, methodical and genuinely thorough, Dr. Smith is who patients send their families to. She's known for the patience to get a tricky prescription exactly right and for her expertise in medical optometry, specialty contact lenses and urgent eye care.

Fellowship-trained in binocular vision and rehabilitation, a credential only a small fraction of optometrists hold, Dr. Combe leads our vision therapy, pediatric and prism care. She is also fluent in Spanish and French, something we're proud to offer Mueller & East Austin families.

Therapeutic optometrists who know your name
Dr. Kathryn Smith
Dr. Smith completed her undergraduate studies at Trinity University in San Antonio before earning her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston. Following graduation, she honed her skills working alongside leading ophthalmologists in San Antonio and Dallas, managing pre- and post-operative care for LASIK, cataract and other specialized eye surgeries.
Dr. Smith has been at Envision Eye Center since 2017 and is dedicated to providing full-spectrum primary eye care and managing complex ocular conditions for the entire family.

Dr. Combe grew up in Houston, TX, and later moved to Austin, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. She then completed her Doctorate of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. During her externships, she gained experience in full-scope optometry, working in primary care, ocular disease, pediatrics and low vision. After earning her doctorate, Dr. Combe returned to Austin to complete a residency specializing in pediatrics, vision therapy and vision rehabilitation.
Dr. Combe believes that vision is so much more than just achieving “20/20.” She's passionate about equipping her patients with the tools and care they need to enhance their entire visual system and improve their overall quality of life. Committed to lifelong learning, she has earned her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and is always looking for new ways to expand her expertise and provide the highest level of care. She is also fluent in Spanish and French.
Outside of the office, Dr. Combe enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active, exploring new restaurants and attending live music events.
